Abstract
Illegal drug trafficking activities carried out in the form of smuggling are increasingly rampant in the border areas between Indonesia and Malaysia, constituting a part of transnational illegal activities crossing borders. These drugs are generally smuggled in various goods using varied, slippery, and covert methods. Drug trafficking cases tend to increase each year, making it a serious issue as it can damage the moral values and future generations of the nations involved. The General Border Committee Malaysia-Indonesia (GBC-MALINDO), as an international forum dealing with all border activities, plays a role in securing border conditions, whether on land, sea, or air. This research employs a theoretical framework encompassing drug trafficking and smuggling, liberal institutionalism, border cooperation, and border control. It draws from literature studies, collecting data from various sources such as documents, infographics, books, scientific journals, online media coverage, and official websites. The author utilizes qualitative analysis with a descriptive research method. The study finds that GBC-MALINDO combats drug smuggling through government-to-government efforts, implemented in the form of: (1) training and evaluation; (2) socialization; and (3) education. The presence of GBC-MALINDO contributes significantly to resolving the problems of drug circulation and smuggling at the border between the two countries. Keywords: Transnational Organized Crime, Narcotic, Trafficking, Smuggling
