Abstract

ABSTRACT This study discusses the meaning of online dating applications in the movie "love for sale" using Stuart Hall's qualitative theory. The purpose of this study was to find out how the acceptance of the z generation towards the use of online dating applications in the movie "love for sale". This research is qualitative in nature. Based on the research results described in the discussion, the following research conclusions can be drawn: Of the five informants, they actually show different acceptance based on the 3 positions in Stuart Hall's encoding-decoding theory. In the dominant position of hegemony where 3 informants agree or like the meaning shown in the film, then there is a negotiating position which is a position that accepts the dominant ideology but rejects its application in certain cases produced by 1 informant, and in the last position there is an opposition position, in In this position, 1 informant rejects the meaning of the intended message and replaces it with their own way of thinking about the topic.
