Abstract
Social welfare is a condition needed by humans in order to live properly and be able to develop themselves so that they can carry out their social functions properly. However, it is known that the number of social welfare needs (PPKS) tends to increase both in terms of quality and quantity. Especially because of the large number of layoffs (PHK) due to the cessation of industrial and business activities due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has led to an increase in poverty. One of the efforts to reduce the number of PPKS is to provide shelters or social institutions in the form of orphanages. A place that is able to provide services and guidance both physically, mentally and socially. However, there are still many social institutions, especially in Gresik Regency, which are currently unable to carry out their duties as adequate social shelters and rehabilitation due to a lack of facilities and other supporting factors. In designing an orphanage that has various types of residents, a behavior-based approach is needed so that the building is able to respond to each character and the needs of its inhabitants. By presenting spaces that are able to help the occupants to adapt as a preparation to be able to return to adapt to their environment optimally.
