Abstract
The Instagram account @andreaslukita_ is a personal account owned by Andreas Lukita, one of the male beauty vloggers in Indonesia. Most of the uploaded photos show a way of dressing that represents identity as a crossdresser. This research was conducted to see how crossdresser identity is represented on Instagram accounts. Researchers chose 8 uploaded photos that indicated signs of crossdresser. The method used in this research is semiotic analysis by Roland Barthes which consists of denotation, connotation, and myth. Data collection is done by means of observation, documentation and literature study. The results of this study reveal that crossdressers adhere to the notion that fashion is fluid and genderless. However, crossdressers are still a minority identity in Indonesia, so crossdressers are often associated with queer identities because they are still considered to be away from the norms and customs that already exist in Indonesian society. Andreas has shown his identity as a crossdresser, won the trust of his followers, and has succeeded in constructing that fashion does not have to be rigid and strict for a certain gender.
