Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the perception of football fans in Surabaya after see online soccer gambling advertisements on social media Instagram. This study uses the theory of individual differences. This theory shows individual differences or the theory of changing attitudes in mass communication as a theory which states that each individual will give different responses to mass media based on their psychological needs and each individual uses mass media to meet their psychological needs. While the method used to determine this problem is descriptive qualitative. By using the In Dept. Interview technique (in-depth interview) to get deeper information about the existing problems. The results of this study according to researchers, the perception of football fans in Surabaya seeing online soccer gambling advertisements on social media Instagram resulted in negative perceptions. Because football fan informants in Surabaya are not interested in following online soccer betting after seeing the advertisement on Instagram social media.
