Abstract

Sustainable development is a universal goal but few can agree on one definition. In this book, we adopt the definition of the Brundtland Report: “Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” (IISD 2019). Sustainable development is also a universal challenge, yet we must think about how we can achieve it and sustain it for the generations to come. A myriad of strategies and methodologies have been developed over the years to address specific problems, toward achieving any of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (United Nations). Diverse sets of customized strategies and methodologies may evolve or develop independently from each other in response to similar needs, depending on the group, culture, locality, or country (Woolcock 2009). Hence, it is very crucial to document such unique strategies and methodologies supportive of the SDGs for others to perhaps learn from and replicate.
