Abstract
WHO data shows that 50 to 80 million fertile couples experience infertility, while in Indonesia it is around 10-15%. Therefore the presence of the IVF method is one way that can be taken by married couples who want children of a certain gender. However, in the IVF method it is still difficult to find out which sperm cells carry the X and Y chromosomes which are aspects that can fulfill the wishes of a family who wants a child of a certain sex. This research will be analyzed in classifying the images of sperm heads that carry X and Y chromosomes using the KNN algorithm. Sperm head images will be classified based on the size of the sperm head to distinguish sperm carrying X and Y chromosomes. Because in previous studies where the classification of sperm images based on chromosomes using the CNN method obtained a low accuracy output, this research will test the KNN algorithm to find out performance of the algorithm in classifying sperm images. The performance of the KNN algorithm is measured using the confusion matrix method by testing each specified K value resulting in 99% accuracy. The results of the algorithm performance test using the confusion matrix obtained a precision value of 0.98 and a recall of 0.97.
