Abstract
Food waste is one of the largest waste problems in Indonesia. Graphical data on waste composition from the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN) in 2021 indicates that food leftovers account for the highest percentage at 40.4%. However, a survey conducted among teenagers aged 18-24 revealed that only 27.9% of respondents were aware of the issue of food waste and its types. Furthermore, 61.5% of respondents were unaware of the negative impacts of poorly managed food waste. These findings demonstrate that many teenagers lack knowledge about the dangers of food waste, including prevention and mitigation measures. In this design, an illustrated book can serve as an appropriate medium as it combines informative text and illustrations to engage and facilitate understanding. The data collection method for this book design involves both qualitative and quantitative approaches, utilizing questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The collected data is then analyzed using descriptive and 5W+1H analyses. Based on the analysis, a synthesis of the data is obtained, which is used for designing and conceptualizing the book. The design concept revolves around the keyword "Addressing Food waste with Fun." As a result, the design incorporates pleasant colors and a blend of vector illustrations with shading brush style, accompanied by easily understandable language. The purpose of this illustrated book is to provide information to teenagers aged 18-24, empowering them to prevent and address the dangers of food waste starting from themselves, thus contributing to environmental preservation. Keywords: Book, Illustration, Dangers, Food Waste.
