Abstract
Indonesia is a tropical country located on the equator and situated between two oceans, namely the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. The impact of such geographical conditions makes Indonesia an ideal country for its flora and fauna to survive. Indonesia is a country with numerous islands, positioned between two continents and two oceans. Therefore, the land area of Indonesia is 7.81 million square kilometers, consisting of 17,499 islands stretching from Sabang to Merauke. Approximately 3.25 million square kilometers are comprised of seas, and 2.55 million square kilometers are designated as an Exclusive Economic Zone, while 2.01 million square kilometers are land. Fisheries are a highly prioritized sector in national development. Koi fish is a type of ornamental fish that has maintained a stable demand, quantity, and interest among buyers to this day. Koi fish come in various colors, there are many different types of fish, and they can grow to a jumbo size. The beauty of these fish can be enjoyed in various locations, including outdoor and indoor fish ponds, aquariums, and open nature settings. In the design of an illustrated book on koi fish breeding guide as an informational medium for beginners, a qualitative method is utilized. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are employed in this design. The qualitative method involves two stages of approach, namely interviews and observations. On the other hand, the quantitative method in this design adopts a questionnaire technique. These three approaches result in a design concept with the keyword "Enjoyable and Fun Koi Cultivation," which signifies the effort to deliver information to the intended target audience that koi fish cultivation is an enjoyable and pleasurable activity. The illustrated book that will be designed is intended as an informative and communicative informational medium. This illustrated book focuses on koi fish breeding.
