Abstract
In general, a train station is a place where passengers can get on and off and wait to use rail transportation. As of 2016, the number of train passengers in the city of Surabaya has reached 4 million passengers. With an increasing number of people using the train, it is necessary to improve the facilities and infrastructure on the railway. Modernization of national railway technology is an important prerequisite for improving rail transportation services. The concept of modernizing national railway technology must be directed at the use of mass transit, high speed, energy saving and environmentally friendly railway system technology. Based on RIPNAS, 2018 concerning plans for the construction of the Jakarta-Surabaya high-speed rail line in 2030, the design of high-speed rail stations in Surabaya was made to respond to this. With the theme "Contemporary in Transportation Space", the design process for this fast train station in Surabaya uses the Pragmatic design method, and Contemporary Architecture is an effective approach to support this. The design location for this fast train station is on Jl. Grand Pakuwon, Banjar Sugihan, Kec. Tandes, City of SBY, East Java. Through this design, it is hoped that the Fast Train Station in Surabaya will become the identity of the city of Surabaya and can be integrated with other modes of transportation via rail with a type of fast train that adapts to the needs and convenience of users.
