Abstract

Industrial wastewater of cassava crackers contains various organic substances and also non-organic components that are not dangerous. The wastewater must meet the quality standard requirements for liquid waste issued by the East Java Governor Regulation No. 72 of 2013 for noodle and cracker industry activities. The maximum Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) level is 120 mg/L, while the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) is 50 mg/L. The handling of wastewater with the suspended culture aerobic biology method is carried out by PT Candi Jaya Amerta. However, this process has not yet obtained optimal results, so this study was carried out with the aim of identifying the source of the cause of the decline in wastewater quality and wastewater treatment plant facilities of PT Candi Jaya Amerta, and knowing the influence of acid levels and F/M ratios on cassava washing liquid waste. This study was conducted by identifying the source of the cause of the problem and parameters that affect indicators of decreased wastewater quality. The results of this study show that the number of microbes (F/M) is not in accordance with the standards of active sludge treatment and the addition of bases (CaCO3) that do not have the right dose. Meanwhile, the acid content in cassava washing waste does not affect the condition of microbes in the wastewater treatment process, and the influence of the F/M ratio shows that the more the number of microbes that exist, the less good the treatment results and vice versa.
