Abstract

Gastrodiplomacy is a form of diplomacy that uses food or culinary arts. By using food or culinary instruments, a cross-cultural understanding can be formed. This cross-cultural understanding has an important role in the interests of diplomacy in the context of international relations. In addition to the interests of diplomacy, gastrodiplomacy also plays an important role in increasing the nation's brand awareness. This is because, by bringing food or culinary arts to the level of diplomacy, more and more nations are familiar with food or state cuisine that practice gastrodiplomacy. Thus gastrodiplomacy is a concept and a tool for understanding across cultures with the aim of increasing interaction, communication and cooperation. How food, identity, environment and politics intersect - contribute to a larger concept of preserving Indonesian food biodiversity, local wisdom and spiritualism and bringing community-based organic products to a wider market. This study aims to get an overview of the Indonesian Gastrodiplomacy Program in the Netherlands through the Taste of Amsterdam festival which is an annual event held in the Netherlands in the form of a culinary festival that presents culinary business people, chefs, and so on, in creating nation branding in 2014-2019.
