Abstract

Porang (Amorphophallus oncophyllus L.) is one of Indonesia's superior products. Indonesia Quarantine Full Automation System (IQFAST) state that in the first half of 2020 the need for human exports increased by 9.1 thousand tons from the first half of 2019. Porang’s demand, which is expected to continue to increase, must be balanced with the expansion of land for porang. Basically, the selection of land in planting a commodity requires an analysis of land feasibility which is often referred to as land suitability. Land suitability is focused on assessing a limiting factor on a land so that problems that must be addressed in the selected land can be identified. The purpose of this study is in line with the urgency of land suitability, namely to assess land feasibility, identify land limiting factors, and investigate potential solutions especially for porang plants in Sumberejo Village, Pasuruan, East Java. This study was conducted between March 2022 and January 2023 using the matching method for land suitability assessment based on climate, physical and chemw ical data. Making a land suitability map is done by overlaying stages according to land characteristic data. From the research results, the residents' lands have actual class S3 (suitable marginal) and N (not suitable) with the limiting factors of base saturation (nr3) and slope (eh). There are several recommendations to improve the condition of the selected land such as planting cover crops, making terraces, and adding organic matter from bamboo waste which is rich in potassium. The recommendation will raise the land class to S2 (suitable) and S3 (suitable marginal).
