Abstract

Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum indicum) is an ornamental plant that is widely used as ornaments in a variety of events in Indonesia. Chrysanthemum plant propagation technologywere performed in vitro have been developing well. However, various studies to date are still being done in an effort to discover the techniques of plant propagation in vitro Chrysanthemum effective and efficient. Therefore, this study was conducted in order to determine the effect of the concentration of coconut water as a natural growth regulator substance to the growth of shoots Chrysanthemum propagated in vitro. This study uses a planting medium Murashige and Skoog (MS) with the addition of coconut water from 0 ml / L, 100 mL / L, and 150 ml / L. For comparison, also used MS medium with the addition of BAP (Benzylaminopurine) on consentration 1 and 2 ppm. Research compiled by completely randomized design (CRD) with four replications. Parameters measured were shoot height, number of leaves, number of roots and root length. Observations were made on day 45 after planting. The results showed that the medium MS + 150 ml / L coconut water showed the highest value on all the observed variables (shoot height, number of leaves, number of roots and root length). While the media's treatment of MS + BAP 2 ppm showed the lowest value in all of the observed variables. The conclusion showed that the addition of coconut water as much as 150 m / L into MS medium, a very good influence on shoot height, number of leaves, number of roots and root length shoots Chrysanthemums grown in vitro
