Abstract

Indonesia's position as one of the largest ginger producing countries in the world does not make Indonesia a major ginger exporter in the international market. This study aims to analyze comparative competitiveness, competitive competitiveness, and trade specialization. The research methods used are Revealed Comparative Trade Advantage (RTCA), Export Competitiveness Index (XCi), and Trade Specialization Index (ISP). This study used secondary data for the period 2006–2020 obtained from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) with item code 720 (ginger) and processed using Microsoft Excel. The results showed that Indonesian ginger commodities have comparative competitiveness, competitive competitiveness, and trade specialization as ginger exporters in the international market. RCTA analysis shows that an average value of 0,538 makes Indonesia the country with the lowest comparative competitiveness among other competitors. XCi analysis shows that Indonesia has the highest competitiveness with an average score of 1,351. However, the results of the year-by-year analysis show that Indonesian ginger has experienced a greater decline in competitiveness than other competing countries. ISP analysis shows that Indonesia tends to be a ginger exporter with an average value of 0.29 and is in the growth stage.
