Abstract
PT. Ajinomoto merupakan salah satu perusahaan yang bergerak dalam bidang pangan. Hasil produkssi utama perusahaan ini yaitu MSG dan food product misalnya Masako, Sajiku, Saori, Mayumi, serta by product berupa pupuk cair Amina, Ajifol, Ajiplus. Dalam pembuatan MSG bahan baku utama yang digunakan adalah tetes tebu (cane molasses) yang merupakan hasil samping dari pabrik gula. Selain tetes tebu juga digunakan glukosa hasil sakarifikasi dari tepung tapioka dan beet molasses. Secara garis besar proses produksi MSG melalui tahap-tahap yang meliputi dekalsifikasi, sakarifikasi, fermentasi, isolasi, purifikasi, pengeringan, dan pengemasan. Pada tahun 2008 PT. Ajinomoto telah tercapai zero emision yaitu proses pengolahan limbahnya yang memperhatikan lingkungan sehingga limbah yang dihasilkan menghasilkan by product (bio cycle). Produk-produk pengolahan limbah yang dihasilkan oleh Ajinomoto antara lain AMINA (pupuk cair untuk tanah), TRITAN (bahan pakan ternak protein), Pupuk Kompos, AJIFOL (pupuk daun), FML (bahan pakan ternak cair), gypsum, non aktif carbon, dsb
