Abstract

Soybean husk waste is underutilized, where some of the waste is only used as animal feed and the rest is simply thrown away. There are several ingredients in soybean husk waste, namely C-Organic 24.5%, Nitrogen 0.43%, Phosphorus 0.071%, Potassium 0.41%; C/N Ratio 57% and Moisture Content 8.02% Based on these contents, one of the optimizations that can be done is to process them into compost. In order to obtain compost that has a pH, nitrogen content, phosphorus, potassium, and C/N ratio in accordance with SNI, it is necessary to know the optimum time for the composting process by adding the appropriate volume of EM4 activator. Prior to the composting process, the waste was crushed and sieved using a 30 mesh sieve. Each treatment used 800 grams of soybean epidermis and soil and EM4 activator with variations of 10 ml, 20 ml, 30 ml, 40 ml and 50 ml. Once mixed evenly, then added 1000 ml of water and 15 grams of sugar solution. The composting process is carried out by taking samples every 3 days for 12 days. It was found that the largest decrease in the CN ratio with the fastest time was the 10 ml variation. which was able to reduce the C/N ratio from 57% to 18.87% on the 3rd day. The highest N.P and K levels were found in the 50 ml variation with successive results of 1.655% 0.235% and 1315%. The optimum time for composting is the 9th day
