Abstract
Soybean husk waste is underutilized, where some of the waste is only used as animal feed and the rest is simply thrown away. There are several contents in soybean epidermis waste, namely C-Organic 24.5%; Nitrogen 0.43%; Phospor 0.071%,; Potassium 0.41%; C/N Ratio 57% and Moisture Content 8.02%. Based on this content, one of the optimizations that can be done is to be processed into compost. To obtain compost that has pH, nitrogen levels, phosphorus, potassium, and C / N ratios according to SNI, it is necessary to know the optimum time of the composting process by increasing the volume of the right EM4 activator. Before the composting process is carried out, the waste is smoothed and sifted using a sieve with a size of 30 mesh. Each treatment used soybean husk and soil of 800 grams each and an EM4 activator with variations of 10 ml, 20 ml, 30 ml, 40 ml, and 50 ml. After mixing evenly, then 1000 ml of water and 15 grams of sugar solution are added. This composting process is carried out sampling once every 3 days for 12 days. The result of the largest decrease in the C / N ratio with the fastest time was a variation of 10 ml, which was able to reduce the C / N ratio from 57% to 18.87% on day 3. The highest N, P, and K levels were found in a variation of 50 ml with successive results of 1.655%; 0,235%; and 1.315%. The optimum time for composting is day 9. Keywords : EM4; Compost; soy epidermis; Tempe Industrial Waste
