Abstract

PT. Wonojati Wijoyo is a company that produces garden furniture. Adirondack chair is one type of garden furniture with the highest demand. PT. Wonojati Wijoyo has problems in the production process of adirondack chairs, that is production target is not complete and often occur bottlenecks which causes high idle time of work station, and low line efficiency. The purpose of this research is to improve the production line so that the idle time of the work station is reduced, and gain a high of line efficiency. For face the problem can be done by line balancing analysis using the Region Approach method. The Region Approach method is one of the line balancing methods that uses a technique for sequencing operating time based on a regional approach. Based on research results which using the Region Approach method, shows an improvement in the performance production line of the adirondack chair. This is proven by the increased of line efficiency from 73,88 % to 92,46 %, balance delay decreased from 26,12 % to 7,54 %, smoothness index decreased from 19,23 % to 4,94 %, total idle time of workstations decreased from 38,03 minutes to 5,34 minutes, the number of work stations is reduced from 7 work stations to 5 work stations, and production capacity per day increased from 22 units per day to 25 units per day.
