Abstract
In this globalization era, the media is the most accessible source of information for the public, especially online media. Each media has its own way of packaging an event which is influenced by certain factors in the media. Many are displayed in online media, one of which is information packaged in a news report. Since July 2022, there has been one report on the death of a member of the National Police named Police Brigadier Nofriansyah Yoshua Hutabarat alias Brigadier J which was caused by the Head of the Propam Polri Division, Ferdy Sambo, which has been widely discussed by the public. The purpose of this research is to determine the framing of CNN Indonesia's online media in reporting on the Ferdy Sambo case. The theory used in this research is Hierarchy of Media Influence Theory, Gatekeeper Theory, and Robert N. Entman's framing analysis model. The researcher highlighted 4 (four) news corpus on CNN Indonesia. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The results of this research show that CNN Indonesia's news framing does not further discuss any motives behind the Ferdy Sambo case that killed Brigadier J. CNN Indonesia provides a chronological side of the facts of the murder but the facts presented do not represent the real motive behind the murder case. CNN Indonesia's framing emphasizes that Ferdy Sambo's actions must be punished according to statutory regulations. Whatever the reasons and motives, truth and justice must be upheld. In addition, the government has an important role in handling the case.
