Abstract

Plastic is a material or one of the synthetic polymers made from petroleum which is often used by people in their daily lives. One of the efforts to tackle plastic waste is to manage natural resources which have been reused and developed into basic materials for the production of bioplastics/biodegradable plastics in such a way, which can then become plastics that are friendly to the environment. In this research, tofu production waste will be used, because Kamen can be utilized as a bioplastic because it contains pure cellulose which is obtained from soy. The variables used are the dependent variable and the independent variable, where the independent variable determined is the concentration of glycerol (1.5, 2.3 ml) and chitosan (2.3; 3; 4 gr) and the dependent variable is tofu liquid waste (whey). and starter acetobacter xylinium After testing the results of biodegradable plastic with tofu waste (whey) it can be seen that tofu waste has the potential to be used as an ingredient in making biodegradable plastic which is then added chitosan and glycerol plasticizer. From the results of the study it can be seen that biodegradable plastic biodegradable tofu liquid waste can be completely degraded within 7 - 14 days, while the variation that has the best degradation time is obtained from variations in the concentration of glycerol 1.5 mL and chitosan 2.3 g with % degradation in the 7th day of 81.8%.
