Abstract
Plastic waste is a residual product that has been discarded but can still be utilized. Various types of waste, plastic waste is the waste that has the largest percentage of its existence. The Suroboyo bus program is an innovation to reduce plastic waste production with a payment system using plastic waste such as bottles to reduce the amount of plastic bottle waste in the city of Surabaya that goes to the Final Processing Site (TPA). One of the Suroboyo Bus routes is in East Surabaya (Merr), where this route is the newest route of the Suroboyo Bus. The waste generation data collection method refers to SNI 19-3964-1994 to determine the effectiveness of the Suroboyo Bus East Route (Merr) program for reducing the amount of plastic waste in the city of Surabaya. Based on the research results, the average generation of plastic waste generated from the Suroboyo Bus Route East Surabaya (Merr) from 2019 to 2022 is 10,18 kg/month, the result of this waste generation is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic where the number of passengers has decreased in April 2020 to October 2021. The composition of plastic waste generated by the Suroboyo Bus Route East Surabaya is 36% for 1.5 L plastic bottles with a waste weight of 42.19 kg, 49% for 600 mL bottle waste with a waste weight of 57.43 kg, and 15% for plastic glass waste with a waste weight of 17.58 kg. The place for exchanging plastic waste for the Suroboyo Bus Route East Surabaya which generates the most waste is Sentra UKM Merr and the place which generates the least amount of waste is the Kec. Sukolilo. Based on the results of the descriptive analysis of the questionnaire and sampling of plastic waste generation, the effectiveness of the Suroboyo Bus Route East Surabaya (Merr) as an effort to reduce plastic waste obtained results of 0.002% or 12,07 kg/day of the total plastic waste in the City of Surabaya.
