Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine the role of social workers in providing social services to the elderly. The research method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, where data collection techniques use observation, interviews and analysis. The data sources used are primary data sources and secondary data sources. The data analysis technique is an analysis using an interactive model (interactive model of analysis). The results showed that social workers in providing social services to the elderly at the UPTD Griya Werdha Surabaya city, among others, as a consultant, namely helping the client's system through consulting activity services; counseling, namely providing counseling services and or psychological therapy; empowering, namely mobilizing the spirit of overcoming (overcoming) problems on their own according to their potential (capacity and capability) and the resources they have; facilitator, namely helping facilitate clients and client systems by providing information and service system support; planner, namely assisting the client system by setting goals, and determining procedures regarding requirements
