Abstract

Along the times, the convenience offered in activities with internet helps is slowly changing the conventional transaction into online transaction. This phenomenon became the forerunner to the development of e-commerce business activities. One of the most well-known e-commerce sites in Indonesia is Lazada. The emersion of threats to the security of consumer's personal data and product quality, creates distrust in consumers to carry out transaction activities. The purpose of this research is to find out whether there is an effect of trust in mediating security and perceived risk on consumer purchase requests from Lazada in Surabaya. This research uses a quantitative method with a sample of 90 respondents obtained through a purposive sampling technique where the desired criterias are 1. consumers domiciled in Surabaya; 2. Aged between 17-35 years old; 3. Know about Lazada. Data obtained from respondents answers to questionnaires distributed online by google form and then processed using a Partial Least Square (PLS). The results of this research shows that from 7 existing hypotheses, only 3 hypotheses have an effect, namely security has an effect on trust, security has an effect on purchase intention, and perceived risk has an effect on purchase intention. Meanwhile the other 4 hypotheses have no effect, namely risk perception has no effect on trust, trust has no effect in purchase intention, trust does not mediate the relationship between security and purchase intention and trust does not mediate the relationship between perceived risk and purchase intention.
