Abstract

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is a horticultural commodity whose demand is increasing every year. One of the efforts to increase optimal tomato production can be done by using organic growing media and liquid organic fertilizer from fruit waste. This study aims to determine the composition of organic growing media and the appropriate concentration of liquid organic fertilizer for fruit waste on the growth and yield of tomato plants. The research was conducted at UPN "Veteran" East Java. The first factor is the composition of the planting medium (M) which consists of 4 levels, namely M0: Soil, M1: Soil: husk charcoal (1:1), M2: Soil: cow manure (1:1), M3: Soil : husk charcoal : cow manure (1:1:1) and the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer from fruit waste (P) as the second factor consisting of 4 levels, namely P0: 200 ml/l, P1: 250 ml/l, P2 : 300 ml/l, P3: 350 ml/l, so that 16 combinations were obtained, each of which was repeated 3 times. The results showed that the combination of planting media and the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer in fruit waste had a significant effect on the number of fruits per plant, total number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per harvest period, total fruit weight per plant.. The best results were obtained in the treatment of soil planting media: husk: cow manure (1:1:1) and the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer from fruit waste was 300 ml/l
