Abstract

The Glycerol Monostearate plant from Glycerol and Stearic acid with an esterification process with a capacity of 40,000 tons/year will be established in the Kramatwatu Integrated Industrial Estate, Jalan Bojonegara, Terate Village, Serang, Banten. Glycerol monostearate is widely applied in the food industry as an emulsifier and stabilizer. Briefly, the description of the process of the glycerol monostearate plant is as follows: The feed in the form of stearic acid, glycerol, and tertiary solvent butyl alcohol will be fed to the mixer. After that the output from the mixer will be flowed to the fixed bed multitube reactor where there is a Novozyme 435 catalyst in it. After that, purification was carried out with 2 distillation towers. For distillation tower 1 will separate tertiary butyl alcohol and water as the top product and the bottom product will be fed to distillation tower 2. In distillation tower 2 will separate glycerol as the top product while the bottom product is glycerol monostearate, and a little stearic acid and glycerol will enter the crystalizer and a centrifuge to separate the mother liquor. Free crystal liquor will be accommodated in the glycerol monostearate silo. The provisions for the establishment of a glycerol monostearate plant that have been planned can be concluded as follows: Capacity : 40,000 Tons/Year Company Form : Limited Liability Company (PT) Organizational System: Line And Staff Factory Location : Serang, Banten Operating System: Continuous Operating Hours : 330 days/year, 24 hours/day Number of Employees : 180 People Ingredients Used : Glycerol, Stearic Acid, Tertsier Butyl Alcohol, Novozyme 435 Economic Analysis Construction Period : 2 Years Factory Age: 10 Years Fixed Capital Investment (FCI) : IDR 393,367,140,782 Working Capital Investment (WCI) : Rp 231,199,326,554 Total Capital Investment (TCI): IDR 624,566.467,336 Raw Material Cost (1 year): IDR 777,253,502,622 Utility Fee (1 year): IDR 234,295,253,835 Total Production Cost : Rp. 1,387,195,959,325 Product Sales Results (Sale Income): Rp 1,683,088,945,494 Bank Interest : 10% Return of Investment Before Tax : 38.74 % Return of Investment After Tax : 29.05% Internal Rate of Return (IRR): 24.9 % Pay Back Period (PBP): 2 Years 7,27 Months Break Even Point (BEP): 34,1257 %
