Abstract
At the Oil and Gas Human Resources Development Center (PPSDM) process of processing crude oil using a distillation unit atmospheric. Atmospheric distillation unit is a unit tasked with carry out the entire series of activities of the separation of crude oil (crude oil) into petroleum products based on differences in boiling points component at 1 atm pressure. Aims to separate the fractions that exist in crude oil into the desired products at pressure atmosphere. The process of separation by distillation is based on three stages of operation, namely: the process of evaporation or adding a certain amount of heat to the solution to be heated, the process of forming a balanced phase and the process of separating the two phases balance. The three distillation stages are carried out in a bubble type distillation column cap tray tower with column top temperature ± 115oC and column bottom temperature ± 270oC The oil refining process, the most frequently used equipment is faulty one of which is the heat exchanger. Operation and utilization of heat exchangers optimally will increase energy efficiency in a process unit which ultimately affect the operating cost of process units and refineries the. In addition, the operation of the heat exchanger is also addressed for consideration aspects of safety and security as well as protection of the environment. The Heat Exchanger tool has a considerable influence on success of the entire series of processes in an industry. If it happens operational failures on this equipment both mechanical and operational can causing the unit to stop operating. In addition, in an oil refinery, heat transfer process is very important in terms of energy conservation, process requirements, safety requirements and environmental protection. Therefore a heat exchanger is required to has good performance in order to obtain maximum results and can fully support an operating unit .
