Abstract
Quality control is the activity of comparing objects with predetermined conditions and taking action if there are nonconformities with requirements. Control of product quality can increase company productivity which has an impact on customer satisfaction. One of the quality controls is to prevent defects. Six sigma is a method used to achieve goals and maximize business success by one of them minimizing defects. PT. Terryham Proplas Indonesia is a manufacturing company producing building materials in the form of UPVC profiles. Problems at PT. Terryham Proplas Indonesia related to product quality caused by defects with an average of 8.77% in January 2019 to July 2019. While the company has a tolerance limit of 5%. Six sigma is proposed to be implemented in an effort to overcome existing defects. Next, the improvement continues with the Kaizen method. The purpose of this study was to identify defects in the UPVC profile and determine the sigma value of PT. Terryham Proplas Indonesia. Providing recommendations for improvement using the Kaizen Five M-Checklist method and the Five Step plan or 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke) is also an important objective of this research. This is expected to improve company performance, one of which can improve product quality. After analysis, CTQ identified at PT. Terryham Proplas Indonesia is an uneven surface, imperfect shape, freckles, dexterous and non-glossy. The highest defect occurs in uneven surface type defects with a defect percentage of 36.170%. In January 2019 until July 2019, it was found that the highest defect occurred in March of 1198 culms with a total production of 14099 culms. In order to obtain an average DPMO of 17531.93 with a sigma value of 3.61. From the results of the DPMO and sigma values, it can be seen that there are five types of factors that affect disability, namely the man, milleu, machine, method, and materials factors. Furthermore, Kaizen is used as a recommendation for improvement caused by factors that cause disability. Keywords : Quality Control, Six Sigma, Five M-Checklist, Five Step Plan
