Abstract
The primary objective of this research is to assess the influence of various soil amendments on water availability within sandy soil environments. Sandy soils are typically characterized by low water content and inadequate water retention, both of which can adversely impact plant growth and overall productivity. Therefore, the enhancement of sandy soils is imperative. This investigation adopted a completely randomized design, encompassing five distinct fertilizer treatments: control (no fertilizer), Humic Acid (15 kg ha-1), Biochar (15 ton ha-1), Cow Manure (25 ton ha-1), and Zeolites (20 ton ha-1). Prior to treatment initiation, preliminary analysis revealed that the soil possessed a Organic-C value of 0.11% (classified as Very Low), a Bulk Density of 0.97 g cm-3. a Particle density of 2.72 g cm-3. a Porosity of 64.18 %vol, a Permeability of 17.98 cm h-1, and a sandy loam Texture. Notably, the Humic Acid treatment exhibited the highest Organic-C value at 33.81%, surpassing the values of Biochar, Cow Manure, and Zeolites. The results obtained from this research showcased insignificant variations in parameters such as BD, PD, Porosity, Permeability, and the pF Curve. However, a substantial disparity was noted in Organic-C levels. The introduction of biochar led to an increase in soil Organic-C by 0.68% after 60 days of incubation. Correlation analysis unveiled a positive relationship between Organik-C and available water content (correlation coefficient, r = 0.61)
