Abstract
Indonesia is a country that has a broader ocean than its land, and many resources of marine can be utilized. This condition attracts foreign fishermen who cannot fish in their country since the decline in the availability of fish. In Indonesia, foreign fishing vessel is illegal since many risks can arise, such as habitat destruction, pollution, reduced supply of captured fish, and the inability to compete with local fishermen in the trade. To overcome this issue, Indonesia implements the ship sinking policy of Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing to the perpetrators to impose a deterrent effect. It aims to protect Indonesia’s marine resources and is also in line with the three components of activity of the Blue Economy. Furthermore, this policy can assist Indonesia in achieving three targets of Sustainable Development Goals 14: Life Below Water, 14.2, 14.4, and 14.7.
