Abstract

Due to government regulations that require the Museum's operational permit to run as a foundation, as well the increasing donations of music collections from various parties, Galeri Malang Bernyanyi now established as Museum Musik Indonesia. This private museum was formed by the devotion of local communities for music and has become an alternative destination for the traveller who seeks historical experiences in Malang Raya. However, similar to the conditions of Museums in general— MMI also encounters the problem to drive a higher percentage of the regular visits. It is convinced that Participatory Design may solve one from these obstacles, where stakeholders and community are involved during the creative process of Branding and developing promotion content for MMI. By conducting qualitative research with mix-methods on data collection, the paper result stated that the majority of research participant supported the Museum to implement participative and collaborative design approach. Hence, this early phase from Participatory Design will be focused on collecting data before the steps of content analysis and final design implementation.
