Abstract
Perencanaan pabrik sodium thiosulfate ini diharapkan dapat berproduksi dengan kapasitas 38.000 ton sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate/tahun dalam bentuk padat. Pabrik beroperasi secara continuous selama 330 hari dalam setahun. Perkembangan industri sodium thiosulfate cukup menjanjikan, dimana dikemukakan bahwa penggunaan sodium thiosulfate cukup efektif dalam proses pencucian mineral emas. Secara singkat, uraian proses dari pabrik sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate sebagai berikut : Pertama-tama larutan soda ash di reaksikan dan di absorbsi dengan gas sulfur dioxide membentuk sodium thiosulfate. Larutan sodium thiosulfate kemudian dipekatkan pada evaporator untuk kemudian dikristalisasi menjadi sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate. Kristal kemudian difiltrasi, dikeringkan dan dihaluskan sebagai produk akhir.
