Abstract

The popularity of Korean culture in Indonesia has made many South Koreans interested in creating a YouTube channel with Indonesian-language content. This study aims to describe the phenomenon of South Korean YouTubers in producing Indonesian-language creative content and to find out the process of cross-cultural adaptation that affects the creation of Indonesian-language content. This type of research is qualitative using phenomenological methods. The results of this study explain that there are processes and experiences of cross-cultural adaptation in Indonesia from these YouTubers that have an impact on the production of creative content. YouTubers take advantage of mastering Indonesian and local languages as an opportunity to create YouTube channels. From the beginning, the target audience for the YouTube channel was viewers from Indonesia, so the content about South Korea was packaged using Indonesian and local languages controlled by YouTubers. The difference in flight hours and consistency between YouTubers and other YouTubers affects the number of opportunities to collaborate and participate in events organized by the South Korean government. Keywords: Cross-cultural Adaptation, Korea, YouTuber.
