Abstract

In the field of refining, it is known that there are four types of hydrocarbons, namely paraffins, naphthenes, olefins, and aromatics. Of the four types of hydrocarbons, only paraffin, naphthenes, and aromats are found in crude oil. In the oil refining process, the Heat Exchanger is the most frequently used equipment. Optimum utilization and operation of the Heat Exchanger will increase energy efficiency in a process unit which in turn will affect the operating cost of the process unit and the refinery. The purpose of this particular task is to evaluate the performance of Heat Exchanger-2 in the Oil and Gas PPSDM Refinery Unit. The results obtained are that the atmospheric distillation process at PPSDM Migas produces products in the form of pertasol CA, pertasol CB, pertasol CC, diesel and residue, Heat Exchanger at the PPSDM Migas Refinery Unit aims to lighten the furnace load in the processing process, avoid excessive heating, and save fuel by utilizing residual heat and diesel, the evaluation results obtained an Rd value of 0.0387 Btu/(〖ft〗^2 hr℉) and a pressure drop value on the Shell (∆P) of 0.0004 psi and pressure drop was also obtained. on the Tube (∆P) of 0.0037 psi. It can be concluded that the Heat Exchanger-2 is still feasible to operate but needs to be cleaned.
