Abstract

The increasing population and the problem of land use change that continues to increase raises the problem of food security. Government programs have been carried out such as the expansion of marginal land in coastal areas, namely saline land. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of P uptake due to the administration of humic and silica acids to the production of lowland rice on saline soils. The research method was arranged in a randomized block design that was repeated 3 times. Size of planting 2x2 m2, 4 kinds of treatment include; a. control b. humic acid c. silica d. humic acid + silica. The results showed that administration of humic acid + silica significantly affected the growth and yield of rice production. Humic + silica acid is also able to improve the chemical properties of the soil because the ability of humic acid can chelate by releasing P bonds from the sorption of metal elements and silica can increase P levels in the soil into a form more available to plants. Keywords ; humic acid, silica, P nutrient uptake, saline soil.
