Abstract

Jabon landfill is located in the village Tambak Kalisogo, districts Jabon, Sidoarjo. Jabon landfill has an area of 8 hectares. This UPT is in under the Department of Environment and Hygiene (DLHK) Sidoarjo. The average amount of waste entering the landfill includes residual waste that has been managed in the TPST area is around 500 tons per day. The large amount of garbage piles will also produce liquid waste called leachate and then seep into the soil which will contaminate the well water of residents around Jabon landfill. The use of dug wells is a primary need for Jabon residents, because in the Jabon landfill area there is still no Local Water Supply Company (PDAM). Local residents still use the well water for daily needs such as cooking, washing and bathing. This will have an impact on the health of Jabon people, especially those who live around the Jabon landfill. From the results of research and field surveys conducted, leachate generation in landfill with pH = 8,4 ; BOD concentration = 3862,5 mg/L ; COD = 4120 mg/L. The purpose of the study was to determine the value of pH, BOD and COD from the wells owned by residents located at a radius of 600 m, 800 m and 1000 m from the Jabon landfill. Samples taken in 5 wells from each radius and taken on the water surface were also taken at a depth of 1 m. The results of the study addressed the pH value of 7.5 while the lowest pH value was 7.2. The highest COD value is found in wells at a radius of 600 m, which is equal to 148.32 mg/L and the lowest at a radius of 1000 m, which is equal to 15.68 mg/L. The highest BOD value is found in well 1 at a radius of 600 m which is equal to 38.06 mg/L and the lowest in the well at a radius of 1000 m which is 8.01 mg/L. Keywords: Leachate, Well, pH, BOD, COD
