Abstract

Energy is a basic human need that continues to increase along with the level of life. Energy consumption in developing countries has increased in response to the pace of economic growth. Unstable prices of fossil energy resources, dependence on limited fossil energy resources, and global warming encourage innovation in increasing the use of clean energy. This study aims to determine the impact of energy consumption, including consumption of renewable energy, consumption of fossil fuel, and production of new and renewable energy, on gross domestic product in Indonesia. The data in this study is secondary data with a 20-year period between 2000 and 2019 obtained from the International Energy Agency, International Renewable Energy Agency, and Asian Development Bank. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression with the assumption of BLUE (Best Linear Unbiased Estimate). The results obtained show that the consumption of new and renewable energy has no effect on the gross domestic product in Indonesia, while the consumption of fossil energy and also the production of new energy has a effect on the gross domestic product in Indonesia.
