Abstract

Red lettuce (Lactuca sativa Var. Crispa) is a vegetable that has high economic value both at home and abroad, and contains high nutritional value per 100 grams. Conventional lettuce production is not able to meet the needs of national lettuce, so using hydroponics as an alternative. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of growing media on the growth and yield of red lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. Var crispa) and to determine the best growing media used. can be applied to hydroponic red lettuce cultivation. The analytical method used is split plot with one factor, namely planting media which is divided into 3 different types of media, namely cocopeat (M1), peat moss (M2) and rockwool (M3) media. . Parameter data were analyzed using 5% BNJ variance. The results showed that the peat moss (M2) planting medium gave the best results in all observation parameters compared to the cocopeat (M1) growing media. This can be seen in the final yield at harvest at parameter number of leaves is 17.88; and the plant's wet weight parameter was 72.53
