Abstract

ABSTRACT Tourism is an international trade in services and is a valuable activity in global markets. International tourism, in fact, is the largest producer of exports in the world. According to the World Trade Organization, foreign currency receipts from international tourism reached 870 billion dollars in 2009. The total contribution of travel and tourism to employment is expected to increase by 2.3% from 258,592,000 jobs in 2011 to 323,826 000 jobs in 2021. As employment increases, the world's GDP also increases. This means that tourism is also useful in creating world income. Due to the increasing number of Muslim populations in the world, countries that have a majority Muslim population have also entered into this halal tourism. These countries have introduced the concept of halal tourism to foreign tourists visiting their countries, one of which is Saudi Arabia and Iran. However, currently, countries whose societies are not dominated by Muslims such as Japan and South Korea are also following the development of the halal tourism market that offers a wide variety of products and services that are halal friendly. Tourism in South Korea is recognized as a tool for national economic development that makes it possible to contribute to export earnings and to utilize natural and cultural resources efficiently. With the establishment of KNTO, foreign tourists are welcomed with open arms, which is recognized by the South Korean government as accepting foreign tourist visits to the country and is a trade that produces good foreign currency. Therefore, the South Korean government establishes relations with international organizations and foreign countries to be able to support Muslim-friendly public facilities so that Muslim tourists can comfortably visit the ginseng country.
