Abstract

Groundwater salinity is one of the parameters needed to detect soil fertility. Indonesia as an agrarian country needs ongoing information about the distribution of salinity concentrations in areas that are the center of agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries and plantations. This information is important because salinity values that are not optimum or are outside the normal threshold will affect the cropping and growth patterns of plants as well as the growth patterns of ponds and fisheries. A technology is needed to be able to monitor the distribution of salinity on a large scale, especially in the district. This study aims to obtain a map of the distribution of groundwater salinity in Bangkalan district in an effort to obtain food security as well as for means of developing information technology primarily by using remote sensing technology. The method used is the utilization of the reflectance value of satellite imagery which is correlated with the value of groundwater salinity and acidity value or soil pH due to sea water intrusion and raifall, from this mathematical model algorithm will be obtained which is expected to provide solutions about the distribution of salinity and acidity of the soil which can later be used for the development of plantation cultivation and pond cultivation for the local community. The expected outcome of this research is to obtain a thematic map that can provide a global picture of the Bangkalan district's quality of its main land in coastal areas.
