Abstract

This study explores of multinational company Alibaba Group Ltd strategy. As a company engaged in e-commerce, Alibaba is not the only one that exist. Alibaba founded in 1999, Hangzhou, China, growing in the information capitalism era. In domestic region, Alibaba has two competitors, namely JD.com and Made-inChina.com, two e-commerce companies with different business models and have already shown their existence before Alibaba was established. As for the global domain, competitors or e-commerce company that have been first established is Amazon.com, which was founded in 1996. In 2014, Alibaba Group participated in the stock market in New York, as well as being the first Chinese company to succeed in entering global e-commerce market competition. This is interesting as an object of research, regarding the efforts made by the Alibaba Group to be able to compete in the global e-commerce market. This study uses a corporate strategy approach, the concept of e-procurement, and the concept of a business ecosystem. And the results show, that Alibaba Group utilizes global networking in international business activities while increasing the profitability of the company through marketplace products and e-commerce products owned, and differentiating business models that support the performance of global networking and expanding markets, as well as operational system company management through a reference of business ecosystem.
