Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the reception received by readers of the novel Laut Bercerita by Leila S. Chudori about what is the New Order. The theory used is the Encoding-Decoding theory from Stuart Hall. This research will use qualitative research methods. The data collection technique used is an In-depth Interview. The technique emphasizes how deeply the informants valued the New Order. The criteria used are informants aged over 18 years. The result showed that there was a relationship between the frame of reference from the informants with the answer given by the informant. Subjective experience from there informants produced very diverse answer. The answer will later be classified into 3 main positions, namely the Dominant-Hegemonic, Negotiated, dan Oppositional positions. In this Study the Dominant-Hegemonic position becomes the majority position of the informants. Keywords: Reception analysis, Encoding-Decoding, Novel, Frame of reference, New Order.
