Abstract

Brem is one of the traditional foods in Indonesia, in the form of fermented glutinous rice which has a distinctive taste and fragrant. The dregs from pressing fermented glutinous rice are waste from brem production. This waste is included in organic waste. This organic waste has a high water content so it can easily decomposes. This research aims to utilize waste from the Brem industry to become compost with the addition of M-Bio activator and using aerobic composting method. Compost is use to loosen the surface layer of the soil and increase soil fertility. In making this compost the main material is Brem waste (1 kg) with additional materials of eggshell flour (300 g) and M-Bio activator with variations of 50ml, 75ml, 100ml, 125ml and 150ml. The composting process is carried out by varying the length of time, namely 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 days. Compost has been successfully made and has the best results in adding 100 ml of M-Bio activator with a composting time of 10 days, with a C / N ratio of 11.42 and a pH of 6.8, color and odor that meet the standards SNI 19-7030-2004.
