Abstract
INTISARI Perencanaan pabrik Acetanilide dari Aniline dan Acetic Anhydride direncanakan untuk kapasitas produksi sebesar 20.000 ton/tahun. Acetanilide merupakan bahan kimia dasar yang sangat penting pada pabrik cat, pabrik karet dan pabrik farmasi. Pabrik ini direncanakan didirikan di daerah Manyar, Kabupaten Gresik, Jawa Timur tepatnya di Kawasan Industri Java Integrated Industrial and Ports Estate (JIIPE). Pabrik ini akan beroperasi selama 330 hari dalam setahun. Proses pembuatan Acetanilide secara singkat yaitu dimulai dengan mencampurkan bahan baku aniline dan benzene di dalam mixing setelah itu campuran diumpankan kereaktor untuk reaksikan dengan acetic anhydride. Reaktor yang digunakan berupa Reaktor Tangki Berpengaduk dengan suhu operasi 120oC dan tekanan 1 atm yang dilengkapi dengan jaket pemanas. Setelah dari reaktor campuran diumpankan ke centrifuge untuk mengambil filtrat Acetanilide. Kemudian diumpankan menuju crystallizer untuk proses kristalisasi dengan cara pendinginan menggunakan bantuan cooling water. Setelah didapati kristal yang terbentuk maka akan diarahkan ke centrifuge-2 untuk memisahkan antara mother liquor dan bubuk kristal Acetanilide. Kemudian untuk mother liquor yang terpisah akan direcycle ke reaktor, sedangkan untuk kristal akan menuju ke rotary drayer untuk menghilangkan air pada acetanilide. Setelah itu acetanilide diumpankan ke ball mill untuk menyeragamkan ukuran mesh acetanilide.
