Abstract

Domestic wastewater is one of the sources of pollution of water bodies with a percentage reaching 54,69% this can lead to increased levels of COD, TSS, and Total N in water bodies. This research is about the treatment of domestic waste in apartments using a Sequencing Bacth Reactor unit with the addition of coconut fiber and siwalan fiber as biofilm attached media and adsorbents. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of using coconut fiber and siwalan fiber as biofilm attached media and adsorbents in reducing COD, TSS, and Total N content. SBR was operated with hydraulic retention times (HRT) of 12, 24, and 36 hours and aeration rates were equal to 14 L/min. From the results of the study, it was found that the optimum HRT was 36 hours with the addition of coconut fiber biofilm attached media. With the removal efficiency of COD, TSS, and Total N respectively 92.86%, 98.15% and 84.30%.
