Abstract

Tuban Cement Factory is a cement factory located in Tuban, East Java. This Cement Factory produces cement made from Limestone, Clay, Iron Sand, Silica Sand. The resulting product is approximately 2 million tons of cement. The cement production processes analyzed include the raw mill, clinkerzation and finish mill processes. In the process of making the product, it does not only produce the expected product but also creates by-products. Therefore it is necessary to do alternative strategies to reduce the burden of emissions resulting from the production process. Environmental impact analysis caused by the production process can use the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) method. Through the LCA method, environmental impact can be investigated, namely any changes that occur in the environment, whether detrimental or beneficial, wholly or partly caused by environmental aspects. In this analysis using a gate to gate approach with SimaPro 9.2.0.1. The impact analysis method chosen is the Impact 2002+ method because this method is a method that can get results that are in accordance with the objectives and are close to the conditions that occur in the Tuban Cement Plant environment. The data analyzed in this study uses production data for every 1 tonne of cement product. The cement production process with the largest contribution to impact is the clinkerzation process. Alternative improvement programs that can be carried out to reduce the environmental impact generated by the cement production process are reducing coal fuel and replacing it with alternative fuels, using alternative raw materials.
