Abstract

Indoor verticulture is an innovation to overcome obstacles in agricultural cultivation of land shrinkage and extreme or unpredictable weather conditions that cause lacking of food needs. LED Lights can be used for indoor plant cultivation activities, because LED lights are energy efficient and does not give off heat like other lamps. LED lights are available in various watts so it is necessary to choose the appropriate wattage for plant cultivation activities. In this study, vegetable plants will be used to see the role of LED lights as a substitute for sunlight.This research was conducted in a closed building in Sidomulyo village, Batu sub-district, Batu city, East Java from July to September 2020. This research is a factorial experiment using a split plot experimental design (split plots) where the main plot is the type of LED and the subplot is the power or watts of the LED. The main plot consists of 2 levels, which is L1: LED Growlight, L2: LED Daylight. Sub-plots consist of 4 levels, which is W1: 10 Watt, W2: 18 Watt, W3: 25 Watt, W4: 30 Watt. The outcome of the experimental design obtained 8 treatment combinations. Each treatment combination was repeated 3 times, so there are 24 experimental units were obtained. Each experimental unit consisted of 6 plants and total are 144 plants. If there is a significant effect of the treatment being tested based on the ANOVA, then further tests are carried out to see the difference between treatments using the Honest Significant Difference (BNJ) test at the 5% level. The results showed that the LED Daylight lamp with power of 30 watts was the best combination treatment compared to other combination treatments based on the parameters of the number of leaves, leaf area, wet weight and dry weight of kailan plants. greenhouses (outdoors) have a greater average value than plants indoor on all parameters.
