Abstract

Silver industry waste liquid can cause physical and chemical changes in the environment that receive waste. Pollution that occurs can be caused by the metal content that is in the silver waste liquid, one of which is copper metal. The purpose of this research is to know the ability of fly ash as adsorbent with variation of time and the surface area of fly ash from the activation process, also to determine reaction kinetics and isotherm adsorption model. Before the adsorption process, fly ash was activated using NaOH for 6 hours at 83 °C, then heated at 150 °C, 400 °C, and 600 °C. From the BET measurements, the highest surface area is found on the fly ash which is activated by heating 400 o C. Analysisof Cu concentration in silver industrial liquid waste using Atomic Adsorpstion Spectophotometry. The contact time on the adsorption process affected to decrease of Cu concentration, with optimum time of 30 minutes and efficiency of decreasing Cu concentration reaching 95.251%. The kinetics analysis of the adsorption it is obtained that the adsorption process follows the 2nd order reaction, with the reaction rate equation -rA = 0.0364 CA 2 . The analysis of the adsorption model was based on the Langmuir, Freundlich, and Henry models. From this research is known that silver waste adsorption processfollows Henry's isotherm adsorptionmodel.
