Abstract

Eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) is a horticultural plant that is grown for its fruit use. Eggplant contains many vitamins and high nutrients, such as B- complex vitamins, thiamin, pyridoxine, riboflavin, iron, phosphorus, manganese, and potassium. According to the Indonesian Central Statistics Agency (2019), the production of Indonesian eggplant in 201 was 551,562 tonnes of the harvested area of 44,535 ha. Along with the increase in population, the demand for eggplant also continues to increase. However, this increase in demand was not accompanied by an increase in the amount of production. Increasing eggplant production can be done in various ways, one of which is through intensification. The method of intensification that can be done is through the provision of growth regulators (ZPT) to eggplant plants and the use of superior varieties in accordance with the conditions of the cultivation environment. There are many types of ZPT for plants, and one that can be used is the GA3 (Gibberellin) type. This type of ZPT can increase eggplant yield by stimulating eggplant growth, strengthening waste so that it does not fall off easily. Superior varieties can also be used to increase production, because each variety has different adaptability in an area, the use of appropriate varieties is important to increase the productivity of a land, so that it can also increase from an economic point of view. This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Veterans National Development University, East Java. The research was conducted between February and June 2020. This research was a factorial experiment prepared using a randomized block design (RBD) with three replications. The first factor of this study was the concentration of ZPT GA3 and the second factor was four varieties of eggplant. The results showed that there was an interaction on the number of leaves with the best results in the combination of giving 75 ppm ZPT GA3 with eggplant varieties, pertiwi varieties had the highest number of fruit production with an average yield of 17.40 fruits per plant and a total average fruit weight of 1705.33. gram per plant, ZPT GA3 had a significant effect on plant height, fruit set, and total harvest weight of eggplant, with the highest yield on ZPT GA3 of 75 ppm.
