Abstract

Indonesia has great potential in the development of the agribusiness sector. One of the livestock sectors in Indonesia that can be developed is dairy farming. National milk production can only meet the needs of 22.53% or 2.96 liters/capita/year of national milk needs. The rest is met from milk imports which amount to 77.47% or 13.30 liters/capita/year. Indonesia's milk consumption is 16.23 liters/capita/year which is very low in Southeast Asia. This study aims to determine the performance of dairy agribusiness in Indonesia, the public's perception and interest in milk consumption and what factors influence milk consumption. The data collection method in this study used secondary data taken from the publications of the Ministry of Agriculture, BPS, books, previous studies and other literature, as well as primary data through filling out research questionnaires distributed via google form, which were given to 60 research respondents who consumed milk. The analysis used to answer the first and second objectives is to use descriptive analysis. Meanwhile, to answer the third objective using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the performance of dairy agribusiness in Indonesia still really needs to be developed in terms of the dairy cow population, milk production has not been sufficient to meet national needs, and milk imports have increased every year. And Indonesia's milk consumption is very low compared to countries in Southeast Asia. 60 research respondents have a positive and good view of milk and milk consumption. There are 23 research respondents who have a high frequency of milk consumption while 37 respondents have a low frequency of milk consumption. There are three factors that influence people's milk consumption, namely income, milk consumption habits and milk prices. Meanwhile, the nutritional knowledge factor and milk availability had no effect on milk consumption. Increase the population of dairy cattle outside Java, conduct training for dairy farmers and facilitate credit for farmers to increase domestic production. Implementing a milk drinking program from an early age among students. Keywords: Performance, Milk, Perception, Interest, Milk Consumption vii KATA PENGA
